trail-runningNew Balance Minimus: On Sale + an Eastbay Coupon!: I’ve tried a few times to jump into minimal running shoe movement, but it has proven difficult. I find that if I try to run anything over a 5K on a hard surface in minimalist shoes, my knees and shins start to hurt. Am I doing something wrong? Maybe I need to give it more time.

I do however really like to wear them when I go on shorter trail runs, especially on softer surfaces like compacted dirt. They give you amazing ground feel, and you feel closer to the environment around you. I find that since I run a bit slower on the trails anyway because of the many tripping hazards, that minimalist shoes work for me because I’m running closer to the balls of my feet anyway (which minimalsit shoes encourage you to do) – as opposed to when I’m on the road, and my stride is really lengthened out because of the uniform surface, and my foot strike is more at the heel.

Many of them are currently 30%-40% off as well, so if you plan on hitting the trails this Spring, consider picking up a pair and give them a spin.
